Let the children play
Tonight before our daughters' bedtime, they decided that they were going to put on a show for Robin & I.
It began as solo acts consisting of songs, but they started having trouble sharing the spotlight. When things started getting ugly (name calling, yelling...) I began wondering if maybe we should all head up for bed and call it a night.
But something unexpected happened. As Robin & I held in our demands for order more, our eldest daughter (5) began to make silly faces in place of the yelling and our two year old began to laugh and giggle more than antagonize.
From this point on, it was out of our control and the girls just let out probably a week's worth of silliness. We all had some great laughs and a lot of fun, and all because we just let the children play.
Thank you Robin for helping me to keep my worries to myself long enough for the playing to begin. Thank you thing one and thing two for reminding me of just how wonderful you both can be!
Love,
-- daddy
